This past summer we purchased the remaining stock of antique book cloth from the old Kast Bindery in Louisville, KY. Mr. Merle Kast passed last November at 97 years old! The Kast Bindery was established before 1850. Among the cloths are some from Mr. Kast's early years, as well as cloths from the time of his father. J. C. Kast in the later 19th century.
The following is being offered for sale,
by the Half-Yard. They are the exact cloths that were used as
hinging material in nineteenth century Family Bibles, Ledger Books, and a vast number of Trade Bindings.
They are spectcular THIN cloths!
Medium Blue, very fine pebble grain.
Dark Green (like emerald, or hunter green), very fine pebble grain.
Crimson Red (very deep, almost maroon), very fine pebble grain.
Dark Brown, smooth/fine linen surface.
These cloths are vintage, from approxmiately 1885 to 1900. Beautifull historic shades!
PRICE: $45.00 per half-yard, 45 inchs wide.
These cloths are in pristine condition, and still on the old bolts. Quantities are severely limited, so this offer is good while the supply lasts.
Also available (by the yard/45" wide) is black "morocco" grain cloth, at $35.00 pr yard.
