Glue or Not Glue soft spine to book block

Postby mckinney3 on Sun Dec 30, 2018 12:54 pm

I primarily make case bound, hard spine journals. I do not glue the spine of the book block to the hard spine of the cover. Only the mull and endpapers.

What is the convention for when the book cover spine is soft and rounded? I am repairing a soft rounded spine book and need advice.

thank you.

OK, I found an excellent video that answers my question plus more helpful instruction.

The short answer is that the spine stiffener is NOT glued to the book block spine - the same as a hard spine book.
